The Role is about the version of ourselves we put on for the world. The one that knows how to function, how to look composed, how to do what needs to be done. But inside, there’s often something much softer that never really grew up, the part that still reacts like a child, still feels things too strongly, still wants to hide or be held.

That’s why the face here feels both present and slightly unreal, like a mask and a real person at the same time. The expression stays quiet, but the painting doesn’t. The lines and the shapes suggest control, while the colors tell a different story. Warm and cold tones live next to each other, like two moods happening at once. The same person can be brave and tired, calm and overwhelmed, adult and child, all in one day.
